Boy do I miss Chucky storming around the sidelines about to explode on whatever QB he tossed into the fire that week. Take your pick Gradkowski, Garcia, Griese, it was like watching lemmings wander out onto the field and try and run Gruden’s complex offense. It usually lead to a few errant passes a sack, and a QB slump shouldered trying to avoid Gruden’s classic glare as they came back to the sidelines.
Gruden’s play book often reads like War and Peace, or Finnegan’s Wake for you literary types. But Jon Gruden’s passion for complexity and visors
is not what we are here for; High School Refs getting the venom of Chucky is the story of the month for Gruden. According to JoeBucsFan Gruden laid into the Refs during a high school game for Carrollwood Day School located in Tampa, Florida. Gruden received a 15-yard penalty for blasting the officials and was so upset by the call that he left the field for the remainder of the game and joined the fans in the stands.
George Robertson a former high school football official was at the game rooting on his son who played for the opposing team, Cambridge Christian School. Robertson claimed Gruden continued to berate officials as he sat the stands, calling them “Forrest Gump” and questioning calls.
How can you NOT love this guy. That is passion. Coaching football is not a night of poker. Calm demeanor is for chess and shuffleboard
not hard hitting sports.
We salute Chucky, and hope he returns to the NFL sidelines as soon as possible.
Our predictions for Jon Grunden coaching in 2011
1. Cleveland Browns
2. Green Bay Packers

Gruden is about as likely to end up as Green Bay’s Head Coach next year as Lane Kiffin coming back to The Raiders.
